There are 2 metrics that you need to be on top of as a CO/Fellow for you to calculate your Sourcing and Volunteer Requirement number.

  1. Child Count
  2. Slot Count

The child count is self explanatory. The no. of children you are supporting in your chapter.

The Slot count is - how many slots have you agreed to take sessions per week with the School/Center.

Example:

Note: It is okay to start a school with 1 slot but ultimately we aim for 2 slots where we can run our program to it’s fullest. Even in our Foundations Program, we have foundations for both Math and English. Hence, 2 slots.

Set your goal

The child count and the slot count will give you the number of volunteers required in your chapter based on the 2:5 ratio. For every 5 children, we recruit 2 volunteers.

Rationale: This is at the core of MAD’s mentorship model when we care/mentor for children, we want each child to receive the necessary attention & support.

The 2:5 also provide a strong volunteering base in the chapter where substitutions, fundraising, and more leadership will emerge through. More the volunteers, more the children are happy, more the chapter is healthy.

Hence, the 3x of Volunteer requirement number will provide you with the sourcing target.

The 3x is derived from historical data that when a MADster sources for another volunteer, out of 3 applicants, 1 will get converted.

Hence if you need 100 volunteers in your chapter, you at least need to get 300 applicants to be safe as per sourcing requirements.

For example based on estimation, this is what we can expect.
